Flood Dam Trail: TDG Trail Report 8/1/25

Check out the TDG Trail Report below:

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this one as a go-to hike, especially with clients, but Pierce and I had a lovely time on a Friday afternoon on the first day of August. It’s kind of overgrown, but not hard to find, a mile or so on a dirt road off Rt 9 in Searsburg, Vermont (near Wilmington). It’s on the Deerfield River—cool foot bridge to start. We went for an easy day hike (less than 40 minutes from North Adams). It’s a mostly flat 2 mile out to a little pond. You start at the Deerfield River, and just go over a little uphill about a mile in, and soon enough you find yourself at a little pond in the wilderness, which is the end of the line. About two hours there and back, really nice.

But I should warn that it’s pretty lightly trafficked, so quite overgrown in spots. We encountered those pesky stinging nettles, so long pants might be a good idea. But the trick is not to itch them. They are really itchy for about 5-10 minutes, but if you don’t itch and spread it around it will go away quick.

I’m trying more video reports on Tic-Tok. Check them out:

Until next time…
