Ragged Mountain Loop

2.5 to 4 hours

Moderate/Strenuous

This is the first hike I offered to the public after moving to the Berkshires back in 2022. I selected it because I think the handful of peaks on Ragged Mtn are some of the most beautiful and secluded spots in all of Mt. Greylock State Reservation. In addition to having some of the best views of Greylock, the top section along the faulted ridge is really cool as we travel through some fun cracks in the bedrock. The trail up from Greylock Glen in Adams is very lightly trafficked. Pretty wild, I’ve seen porcupines up there! The bottom section is cool as it winds through an abandoned ski area and down the historic Thunderbolt Ski Run from the 1930s.

There is a short version if you just want to climb up to the first peak with the amazing view of Mt. Greylock. Or we can do the longer version where we travel along the ridge and see 3 more rocky peaks with different views. Very adventurous!

$180, two hikers

+40 each additional hiker

Long Version (4 Peaks, about 4 hours)
